Baxter State Park Trust Communications

Former Governer of Maine, Percival Baxter, was the original owner of all of the lands now known as Baxter State Park in Maine.  This document is the beginning of Baxter's process of endowing the State of Maine with the ownership of these lands for the purpose of creating a state park for the preservation of the wilderness and recreation of the people of Maine.  These documents lay out the founding principles of wildlife conservation for the management of the park and are seen today in the Baxter State Park mission statement.
